Its leaves are evergreen and it reaches heights of around 1 m or more when flowering. The outside of the flowers is covered with green or reddish hairs. The inflorescence resembles a kangaroo’s paw, hence its common name. It needs very well-drained, acidic soil, as it doesn’t like damp feet, especially in winter, but it does like water and fertilizer during the growing season.
