Anigozanthos flavidus is an evergreen perennial in the Haemodoraceae family, native to southwestern Australia. Its leaves are evergreen and it reaches a height of 1 m or more when in bloom. The outside of the flowers is covered with green or reddish hairs. The inflorescence is said to resemble a kangaroo's paw, hence its common name. It needs well-drained, acidic soil, as it doesn't like to stand in damp conditions, especially in winter. However, it does like water and fertilizer during the growing season. Beware: snails and slugs like to eat foliage.
