Protea aurea is a small South African tree in the Proteaceae family that can reach 3 to 5 m in height. Its habitat lies between 150 and 800 m altitude in the Riviersonderend Mountains, the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains on cool, damp southern slopes. Flower color varies from cream to red. In our region, it blooms in summer.
