Conanthera trimaculata is an endemic bulb from central Chile in the Tecophilaceae family. It is quite common. It grows in the shade in vegetation filtering 20 to 40% of the light in inland valleys from the seashore to 2000 meters altitude. It can withstand a drought of 3 to 5 months with winter rainfall of 400 to 800 mm.
