It grows to between 1 and 3 meters tall and as wide. Its foliage is evergreen. Flowering takes place in autumn-winter and early spring. Its inflorescences are 10 to 20 cm high, with variations of brown, red, gold and orange. It needs light to moderately heavy soil with good drainage and humidity. It is pollinated by bees and hornets. Our specimen comes from the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle and was planted in 1996.
