N.P.Taylor Synonym: Ferocactus rectispinus, Echinocactus rectispinus, Echinocactus emoryi var. rectispinus Family: Cactaceae Origin: Mexico Common name: cactus, barrel cactus Hardiness: not hardy, -2°C dry in winter Ferocactus emoryi ssp. rectispinus is a barrel cactus that can reach 1.50 m in height and 0.45-0.60 m in diameter. The prickles are very long, up to 22 cm. It needs well-drained soil, especially dry in winter. Watering takes place from spring to autumn, spacing out until the soil is dry.
