Red List: Vulnerable Fascicularia bicolor ssp. canaliculata is a Chilean epiphytic plant of the pineapple family (Bromeliaceae). It grows epiphytically in temperate Valdivian forests. It grows slowly, forming a clump two or three meters wide in around twenty years. Foliage is evergreen. The leaves are longer than those of the typical species, edged with prickles. In our garden, it grows on the ground or in a rock hollow. Flowering takes place in autumn in Brittany: the leaves turn red before blooming and the three-petaled flowers are light blue.
