Puya humilis is an epiphytic terrestrial plant in the Bromeliaceae family, native to Bolivia. The plant is made up of rosettes with thorn-edged leaves, between 15 and 25 centimetres high. The flowers, which appear in summer, have a red stem and three purple petals. It grows in the sun in rock gardens on stone in a highly draining mixture with only 1/3 soil, the rest being granite arena and gravel, all covered with pozzolana.
