Description
Protea ‘Christine’ is a plant of the Proteaceae family of horticultural origin created in Australia around 1995. It is a hybridization of Protea compacta, the other parent being unknown according to “Proteaceae hybrids IPCR-2016”. However, the “Dave’s Garden” site indicates hybridization between P. compacta and P. neriifolia. In this case, it would be the same parentage as P. ‘Carnival’ created in 1982. The plant grows to a height of 1.50-2 m, with a spread of 4-5 m here. Flowering takes place in winter and spring, but can be remontant at other times. It’s a beautiful, highly floriferous hybrid for well-protected coastal areas.
