Botanical name: Clivia caulescens R.A. Dyer Family: Amaryllidaceae Origin: South Africa Common name: clivia, clivie caulescente Hardiness: -6°C for short periods. Clivia caulescens is a bulbous member of the Amaryllidaceae family native to South Africa. The foliage is evergreen and the 50 cm to one-meter-high flared clump produces offshoots. It flowers from late spring to late summer. We grow it in undergrowth, but it can also be planted in part-shade. It needs well-drained, cool soil. We bought seeds from SilverHill in South Africa in 2009 and the plant was planted in 2011, where it is now.
